We take a peek at The Continental, the first David Collins Studio-designed restaurant in Asia

If you asked designers whether they’d prefer to start with a blank slate, or a fixed set of parameters, we’d bet that most would say a blank slate. But not Simon Rawlings, creative director of London-based David Collins Studio. The designer and his team are used to, and in fact enjoy, working with historic spaces. Although the Thomas Heatherwick-designed building that houses The Continental is hardly a listed property, the landlord was keen to keep the original structure and ceiling detail, providing the design team with an enjoyable challenge.

Martin Brudnizki-designed Fortnum & Mason Opens in Hong Kong

Located in K11 MUSEA, the brand’s first store outside of London was designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and marks the firm’s first project in Asia. The space, which also houses F&M’s 181 restaurant, is inspired by the Georgian architecture of the original Piccadilly store, with a touch of whimsy and old-world charm.
