For most, this proximity to beach and nature is the stuff of tropical getaways in exotic locations far removed from daily life, but Silversands offers resort-like living year-round without compromising on connectivity, with Wu Kai Sha MTR station a short walk away⁵, and hubs including Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and Quarry Bay reachable in under 30 minutes by car⁶.

It’s the development’s French Riviera-themed clubhouse that perhaps best embodies the Silversands lifestyle. Created by award-winning Hong Kong designer Frank Leung of architecture and interior design firm via., the clubhouse was conceived according to Leung’s guiding ethos that ‘the design process should be built upon an understanding and respect for the site’. This is especially true for Silversands, where the architect says that, ‘Given this spectacular location, the emphasis is really on relaxation, wellness and connection with nature.’

Leung and his team took cues from the effortless sophistication of the French Riviera and interpreted it for the coastal location. ‘The glittering sea and the white sands are our main inspirations, but when we began working on the project we went through many examples of French beach resorts and island resorts that have that character, that connection with the water, with the beach and with nature,’ Leung says.

The resulting three-storey clubhouse was designed with indoor-outdoor living in mind. The ground-floor ‘sala’⁷ is a semi-open space that offers direct access to the beach as well as an outdoor lounge⁷ and children’s play area⁷. A sweeping spiral staircase leads to the main floor, with views of the treetops and ocean beyond. Here residents find the main lounge⁷, private dining area⁷ and, further along the horizontal layout, the generously proportioned gym⁷, where even working out is an encounter with nature. An outdoor staircase leads to the open-air pool area, with its deck and infinity pool⁷. Here, Leung says, ‘you’re totally one with nature — you’re completely under the sky’. The soothing, neutral colour and material palette, which Leung says was inspired by the white sands of the beaches below and the ‘glitter of the ocean’, include natural materials like stone and pale wood, contrasted with nature-inspired textures and refined bronze details.

The result is a pervading sense of calm and tranquillity, the interiors setting a serene scene that backdrops breathtaking views⁴ of nature and ocean through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. ‘What we really wanted to create here at Silversands is a resort atmosphere that is bright and airy, very relaxed and with a kind of wellness concept within it,’ Leung says, and it appears he has achieved just that, and then some.
