Design in Asia: The New Wave
Design Anthology launched its first large-format book, Design in Asia: The New Wave earlier this year. This new volume profiles 97 talented and diverse individuals across 11 countries, 11 of which are from mainland China, 8 from Hong Kong and 8 from Taiwan.
In compiling this project, Design Anthology’s Suzy Annetta interviewed each designer about their backgrounds, inspirations and processes, and the result is a collection of first-person narratives that contextualise the thoughtfully curated project images that sit alongside text. Design in Asia a cross section of individuals and approaches that are shaping and pushing the possibilities of furniture, product and interior design.
In celebration of Shanghai Design Week 2020, Suzy Annetta will be hosting an online discussion with three of the Chinese designers featured in the book. Join us for a conversation on what design in China means today with Eindhoven based Hongjie Yang, Shanghai based Ximi Li and Linkai Qiu or Urban Craft and Hong Kong based Michael Leung.
