Adam Goodrum’s Conversation Starter

Leading Australian designer Adam Goodrum takes part in Kvadrat’s design project Knit!, which will debut at this year’s 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen and online

Like most other events, exhibitions and launches in 2020, this year Denmark’s annual design event 3daysofdesign will be both a physical and virtual experience, with the festival introducing a Virtual Room for would-be attendees who are unable to travel to Copenhagen for the event.

This year Scandinavian textile producer Kvadrat will present Knit!, the fourth annual edition of the Kvadrat Design Project. This year the brand has invited 28 designers to explore the potential of knitted textiles by Kvadrat Febrik. Among the designers are Hong Kong-based Lim + Lu, Japanese designer Shigeki Fujishiro, Hong Kong’s The Fabrick Lab and Melbourne-based furniture, product and interior designer Adam Goodrum.

Goodrum’s Conversation Series is inspired by Febrik’s textile colour books and a set of Victorian-era love seats, and the result is an S-shaped arrangement of two interlocked seats intended to encourage quiet conversation between those who sit on them. The seat is upholstered in Febrik’s Gentle 2 fabric in shades ranging from crimson and deep blue to grey and white, with the deep curve of the backrest allowing users to sit side by side while still being able to interact face to face.
