String Furniture

Design Mumbai returns for its second edition this November, showcasing both local and global design over four inspiring daysirst

This November, Mumbai reaffirms its place on the international design map as Design Mumbai returns to Jio World Garden for its second edition. Running from 26–29 November, the fair brings together established global names, rising Indian voices, and thought leaders across architecture, interiors and design.

At the heart of this year’s edition is a focus on collaboration and reinvention. The Park Hotels has partnered with Spanish designer Lucas Muñoz Muñoz to create a site-specific cafe using salvaged materials from hotel refurbishments, a poetic exploration of transformation and sustainability that typifies the fair’s forward-thinking ethos.

For the first time, the Australian Institute of Architects will bring its annual conference to Mumbai, coinciding with the fair and amplifying its international reach. Delegates will also contribute to Design Mumbai Exchange, the acclaimed talks programme that connects local and global perspectives.

Furniture remains central to the fair, with Italian heavyweight Natuzzi unveiling a new sofa collection inspired by Federician architecture, while Sweden’s String celebrates the enduring legacy of its modular String System. Closer to home, India’s own Sabbi introduces sculptural pieces in micro-concrete, while new brand Racconti bridges Italian design with Indian craft in a debut collection by five celebrated designers.

Shaman Ideas

Beyond furniture, the fair extends into textiles and decorative objects. Highlights include Fazo Project’s contemporary rugs rooted in heritage techniques, Venjara Carpets’ sustainable PET designs woven in Bhadohi and Threadarte’s experimental textiles made from waste. Shaman Ideas will present bold sculptural forms that expand the language of interiors.

Emerging talent takes pride of place in a new pavilion curated by stylist Jasmine Jhaveri, featuring studios such as Studio Abrash, Wannas Design Atelier and Trnkts3D. Design school Istituto Marangoni also returns, presenting five alumni in a showcase of India’s next generation of talent.

With its expanded scope and mix of innovation, heritage and experimentation, Design Mumbai promises to be not just an exhibition, but a dialogue between cultures, industries and ideas. Set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most vibrant cities, the fair is poised to make a significant mark on the global design calendar.
