This Designer’s Home Reflects an Evolving Relationship with Space

In Singapore, this 120-square-metre apartment belonging to designer Natalie Cheung of interior and architectural design practice Medium Specific reflects a quiet, carefully considered approach that prioritises adaptability and subtle material expression.

Cheung reconfigured the layout to create a fluid sequence, starting with a defined entryway that flows into open living, dining and kitchen areas. Finishes such as dark terracotta and matcha-toned epoxy flooring establish a grounded palette, while custom elements such as a dual-access bookshelf and concealed storage introduce thoughtful, functional interventions. The studio, bathrooms and attic are treated with the same restraint, allowing light, proportion and objects to define the atmosphere.
