This Family Home Blends Danish Design with Tropical Living

Monocot Studio and William Lau Architects demonstrate a restrained, thoughtful approach in this Singapore family home, where natural materials meet Danish furniture in a space environment rooted in craft and simplicity

William Lau’s architectural design of this family home on Singapore’s east coast blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living through abundant natural light and ventilation, while Mikael Teh of Monocot Studio conceived the interior scheme as a mix Danish furniture — including iconic pieces by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn — with textural materials like granite and oak, grounding the home in natural materials, timeless design pieces and a sense of tropicality.
