Meet the Team behind Oasia Hotel Downtown

The second instalment of our series on sustainable design is a conversation with Phua Hong Wei, director at WOHA Architects

If you’ve been to Singapore in the last couple of years, you’ve probably spotted — or stayed at — the Oasia Hotel Downtown. Opened in mid-2016, in the midst of the Central Business District, the hotel boasts an eye-catching red facade and a vertiginous, creeping exterior of luscious green. Singapore-based architectural practice WOHA, renowned for its environmental and sustainable design practices, designed the building to embody its dedication to green urban design. WOHA’s Phua Hong Wei explains the inspiration for the hotel and its major design features in this short film by Danny Sierra.
