STPI presents Strange Monster View, Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho’s second solo exhibition with Singapore’s leading printmaking and papermaking workshop, more than a decade after his first in 2013. Drawing on his signature vocabulary of masks, eyes, hybrid figures and graphic forms, Nugroho transforms observations of everyday urban life into playful yet pointed reflections on how we see others and how we are seen.

The exhibition also draws on the artist’s experience of Singapore, where the smartphone and its role in everyday life became a recurring point of observation. Works created through techniques including mokulito, pulp painting and embossing reveal a more experimental side of his practice, with the artist and STPI workshop team remixing printmaking processes to give his bold, graphic imagery new textures and forms.
